House of Flint

THE scope

Migrate an ecommerce store from SquareSpace to Shopify, and add functionality for made to order dresses with fabric stock levels.

THE VIBE

While the branding for House of Flint was already in place, this needed carrying over to a functional Shopify theme.

THE INFO

House of Flint offered a made-to-order clothing model, so considerations were needed for fabric stock levels relating to which item of clothing was ordered.

SquareSpace to Shopify Migration

The main part of the project was to move the House of Flint website from SquareSpace to a brand new Shopify website.

There were a few reasons for this move, the client wanted to make use of Shopify’s more complete ecommerce features and we wanted to incorporate a way of handling stock for fabric used in made to order items.

The migration involved moving over customer data (via CSV) and manually rebuilding pages & products.

clever use of apps

One of the main objectives with the move to Shopify was managing the stock levels of fabric with a made to order service. For instance, HoF had 20 metres of X fabric available and this fabric could be used by several designs. Each design needed a different amount of fabric. When a customer ordered a made to order design, the fabric stock needed to be reduced accordingly.

By using a clever combination of Shopify Apps, I was able to create the solution needed for managing the stock levels of fabric. Doing it this way meant we could avoid the more costly route of a custom app/solution, which is perfect for a small business!
